The organizing committee of the Windsor Essex County Sports Persons of the Year Awards (WESPY's) is pleased to introduce the presenting sponsor for the 5th annual WESPY awards. Taking the lead role this year is the National Bank Financial Group.

To gain a major sponsor the caliber of The National Bank Financial Group for the WESPY's ensures that the annual ceremony will have the ability to continue to grow. The National Bank Financial Group realizes the importance of the awards and through their generosity the 5th annual WESPY's will maintain the same excellence it has exhibited the previous four ceremonies. We applaud the National Bank Financial Group for making a difference in our community.

One of the responsibilities of the WESPY awards is to create and maintain a history of the great athletes and teams our area has had to offer over the years. In year number two we were honoured with the naming of the Ed Jovanovski hockey award. In year three we created the John Ferguson Circle of Seven Volunteer of the Year. Last year, the Mickey Renaud Leadership award was presented for the first time.

For the fifth annual WESPY awards, in the category of football we honour and pay tribute to the name of Gino Fracas. From this day forward the Gino Fracas Football award will be presented annually as part of the WESPY ceremony.

Our basketball community lost a tremendous individual in the last year. Wayne Curtin was a long time coach and mentor to many in the sport he loved so dearly. At the fifth annual WESPY's, the basketball award will be dedicated and presented in the name of Mr. Wayne Curtin.
